History of SFS Guwahati

Genesis of SFS
SFS School, Narengi, Guwahati, was established in 1998 as a vision of the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales, North East India Province, under the Mermier Educational Society. Beginning with 70 students in Class I and initially affiliated to SEBA, the school transitioned to CBSE affiliation in 2010. The first Class X batch graduated successfully in 2008, and the Senior Secondary section was introduced in 2011. At its inception, Fr. George Thomas, MSFS served as the President of the Society, with Fr. Tomy Thekkel as the first Principal.
Initially, the school followed the curriculum prescribed by the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA). This board governed the academic structure of the institution for over a decade, shaping the school's early identity. However, as the school continued to grow and develop, so did its aspirations. In 2010, the management made the pivotal decision to shift the school’s affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), one of the most recognized educational boards in India. This move opened up new avenues for academic growth and allowed the school to offer a more diverse and comprehensive curriculum, aligned with the needs of the 21st century.
