About The Event
The Silver Jubilee is a grand event for any organization. SFS Guwahati recently marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its Silver Jubilee with great fervor and enthusiasm. The closing ceremony of the Silver Jubilee was celebrated with much excitement and joy at SFS Guwahati. St. Francis De Sales School appreciates the past, celebrates the present, and more importantly, looks forward enthusiastically to the future as the school celebrates its Silver Jubilee.
As we reflect on the Silver Jubilee celebrations, we express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event. Our sincere thanks to the esteemed dignitaries, staff, students, parents, alumni, and the local community for their unwavering support and enthusiasm.
The closing ceremony of the Silver Jubilee celebrations took a kickstart on 18th November 2023 at around 4 pm. The dignitaries were escorted to the Jubilee Closing Ceremony celebration ground, by the guard of honour led by the SFS school band. The celebration was followed thereafter. The program started with the graceful prayer dance followed by lighting of the lamp by the guests of honor namely Rev. Fr. Abraham Vettuvelil, Superior General MSFS, Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, Rev. Fr. Sabu Francis, Provincial, MSFS Guwahati province, Rev. Fr. George Thomas, principal of SFS Guwahati, Rev. Sr. Provincial / Superior of Venerini Sisters. Following this, the Silver Jubilee flag hoisting took place which was hoisted by Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Abraham Vettuvelil, Superior General MSFS.
Principal Rev. Fr. George Thomas, delivered a welcome speech where the stories of SFS as a baby that has been nurtured and aged so gracefully were shared with the audience. Soon after various speeches were being delivered by our alumni Dr. Jasmin Hussain post which the felicitation of the all-time toppers was done wherein Prerana Sharma, who scored, 496 mark, 99.2% in the Class 10 CBSE board examination 2023, was awarded with a memento and cheque award of Rs. 1 lakh by Rev. Fr. Saji George and Anushka Ashok Choudhury, who scored 98.2% in the 2022 Class XII board examination was handed over the memento and cheque of Rs. 50 thousand by Rev. Fr. Genes Shanpliang, the manager of the school. Soon after this a special speech was delivered by our MLA Mr. Atul Bora.
A special moment of releasing the school souvenir ‘SILVER SPARKS’ was also marked during the Silver Jubilee Fiesta, by Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Rijesh Thomas and handed over the first copy to Most. Rev. John Moolachira, the Archbishop of Guwahati and Rev. Sr. Sissy MPV, the Provincial of the Venerini sisters.
After this, the cultural Bonanza which soon started was a visual delight for the audience and was unveiled with the most zealous dance forms that started with a choir performance. The cultural fest showcased the diverse talents of our students. Dance, music, drama, and art performances captivated the audience and demonstrated the rich cultural tapestry that SFS Guwahati has nurtured over the years. Then began the special musical drama named ‘Harmonious Living’ which tells the story of our school with an unwavering commitment to its values, vision and mission. The musical drama comprised various enthralling performances like the beautiful Creation Dance, Bhangra, Hip-Hop, Sattriya, Bihu, Romanian dance, Gujarati Dance and many more to even mention. The Silver Jubilee Fiesta concluded with a speech by the Chief Guest , followed by a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
The success of the Silver Jubilee celebrations would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this milestone event a resounding success.
As we bask in the glory of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, we also look forward to the future with renewed enthusiasm. SFS Guwahati remains committed to providing quality education, nurturing talent, and instilling values that prepare our students for success in the ever-evolving global landscape.
