About The Event
The Model United Nations (MUN) Conference held at SFS Guwahati from 1st to 3rd September 2023 was a resounding success, bringing together students from various schools to engage in meaningful debates, negotiations, and diplomacy. The three-day event showcased the students' knowledge of international affairs and fostered critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork.
The event commenced with a grand opening ceremony that featured keynote speaker and youth journalist Aboyob Bhuyan who emphasized the importance of international cooperation and diplomacy. This set a tone of enthusiasm and motivation for the delegates.
Delegates were then assigned to various committees, mirroring real United Nations bodies such as the General Assembly, Security Council, and specialized agencies. Each committee was tasked with specific global issues, ranging from climate change to humanitarian crises. The second day was dedicated to committee sessions, where delegates engaged in intense debates, negotiations, and discussions. Delegates researched their assigned topics, presented their countries' positions, and engaged in lively debates. The third day saw the culmination of committee work, with delegates making final amendments to resolutions and defending their positions. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as delegates strived to build consensus and pass resolutions.
The SFS MUN 2023 provided students with an invaluable opportunity to explore international diplomacy, global issues, and the role of the United Nations. The conference's success demonstrates the commitment of our school to foster the intellectual and personal growth of its students while preparing them for a more interconnected world. The event concluded with a memorable closing ceremony. Delegates and advisors gathered to celebrate their achievements and recognize outstanding contributions.
