About The Event
The 15th edition of the SFS Basketball & Football Challenger’s 2025 unfolded with remarkable enthusiasm and competitive spirit at St. Francis de Sales School, Guwahati. This year, the tournament witnessed wide participation from leading city schools, including Don Bosco School, Maria’s Public School, Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Army Public School, Little Flower School, Sanskriti The Gurukul, Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School, East Point Montessori High School, The Scholar School, Miles Bronson Residential School and several others—making it one of the most vibrant and diverse editions so far.
Over two days, teams showcased exceptional talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship, celebrating the true essence of youth athletics.
The tournament commenced at 10:00 AM with a soulful Prayer Song – “We Welcome You”. The Principal, Rev. Fr. George Thomas, formally welcomed and felicitated the Chief Guest, Colonel Manohar Deshmukh, Commanding Officer of 1 Assam Battalion NCC.
A warm and inspiring Welcome Address was delivered by the Vice Principal, Rev. Fr. Melvin Parambukattil, followed by an impressive Band Display by SFS students.
The Chief Guest urged the young players to uphold discipline, determination, and fair play, values that lie at the heart of true sportsmanship.
The players then took the Oath of Sportsmanship, pledging to compete with integrity and respect. The opening ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, after which league matches for football and basketball began across multiple courts and fields.
The 15th SFS Challenger’s 2025 stood as a shining example of sportsmanship, teamwork, and youthful dynamism. With outstanding participation from numerous leading schools across Guwahati, the tournament celebrated not just victories but values—discipline, respect, and resilience. St. Francis de Sales School, Guwahati continues its tradition of nurturing young athletes and inspiring them to pursue excellence both on and off the field.
