As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, St. Francis De Sales School, Guwahati, organized an enlightening awareness session on the topic “Ill Effects of Corruption on Society and National Development” on 29th October 2025 at Mermier Hall. The session, held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., was graced by the presence of Smt. Pankaj Yadav, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, as the Guest Speaker.
The event commenced with a soulful prayer followed by a welcome address by Rev. Fr. George Thomas, Principal, SFS School, who highlighted the importance of nurturing honesty and ethical conduct among students, the future citizens of the nation.
A felicitation ceremony followed, wherein the esteemed guest and other dignitaries were honoured with tokens of appreciation. The audience, comprising students of Classes XI and XII (Science, Commerce, and Humanities), listened attentively as Smt. Pankaj Yadav delivered a powerful and inspiring session on the pernicious impact of corruption on individuals, communities, and national development.
Drawing from her extensive experience in law enforcement, she explained how corruption undermines public trust, weakens governance, and hampers progress. She urged students to take pride in honesty, uphold ethical values, and act as vigilant citizens who refuse to tolerate corruption in any form. Her engaging anecdotes and practical insights deeply resonated with the young audience, encouraging them to reflect on their own roles in shaping a transparent and just society.
The session concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Purvam Sarania of Class XI Science B, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker for her valuable time and thought-provoking message. The event came to a close with the rendition of the School Anthem, filling the hall with a sense of unity and pride.
The Vigilance Awareness Week initiative served as a meaningful reminder of the collective responsibility to combat corruption and uphold the virtues of integrity and accountability, the cornerstones of a strong and progressive nation.
